As the D-Day for the commencement of the 21st FIBA Africa Champions Club Competition for Men draw nearer teams are beginning to arrive Nigeria for the continent's biggest club competition.
First to arrive for the comtition which dunks off formally on Saturday is Inter Club basketball club of Congo Brazaville who arrived Nigeria Monday afternoon and have since moved into the official hotel, Regency Hotels of the twelve clubs that would take part in the ten-day competition.
Also billed to arrive Tuesday are KCB basketball club of Nairobi, Kenya, the duo of Petro Athletico and Despotivo 1 Aogosto of Luanda, Angola while defending champion, ABC of Abidjan, Ivory Coast are due in Nigeria Wednesday aboard Ethiopia Airline and host Dodan Warriors basketball club of Lagos, Nigeria who are Cotonou Benin republic to fine tune its preparedness for the championship.
The Warriors only last weekend defeated city rival Unio Bank basketball club of Lagos 64-48 in a seven-club FIBA Africa Zone-3 international friendlies that draw seven clubs from five countries in the zone, Nigeria's Dolphins basketball club won the female cadre beating Sonabel basketball club of Burkina Faso 84-54.
Warriors head coach, Owoicho Alexander said the coaching will correct all the lapses noticed during the international friendlies, he hailed the Benin Basketball Federation for sponsoring the tournament.
He promised Nigeria basketball fans not to lose sleep as his wards are capable of doing the country proud.
