STEPHEN Okias sunk in a game high 25 points to help Warriors defeat record winners Falcons 52-51 in the last game of the MTN Basketball League regular season played at YMCA Wandegeya courts on Sunday evening. The Warriors went into halftime with a 29- 24 lead but survived a late Falcons' charge as they rallied to win the second half 27-23. Ronnie Kasewu garnered 18 points while Nelson Wafula added 6 for Warriors.
With Henry Malinga injured, Falcons relied on Eric Malinga in the front court but his 14 points were not enough to ensure victory.
Falcons' senior player Sam Obol had 13 points, while Charles Ssuubi (9 pts) produced the highlight of the game with an outstanding crossover and a three-pointer in the dying minutes.
Despite the loss, Falcons remained on top of the Yellow Max Conference table with 33 points and will face fourth-placed defending champions Nkumba Marines in the best of three semi-final play-off series beginning on October 9 at YMCA.
Runners-up Warriors face third-placed Power in the other semi-final on Sunday. In the women's category, KCC Leopards went through the regular season unbeaten after eclipsing KIU Rangers 66-45.
