KENYA : Ulinzi hit Co-op Bank in league tie

National champions Ulinzi Warriors maintained their winning streak with a 85-69 victory over Co-operative Bank.

The national basketball league match was played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.

Ulinzi led 25-14 and 25-23 in the first two quarters before trailing in the last two. Victor Odendo led the soldiers with 25 points while Cliff Ochieng scored 22 for the bankers.

Ulinzi are top of the nine team standing with 24 points while Cooperative Bank are second with 23 but have played a game more.

In the lower division matches, Solomom Ochieng led Telkom with 23 points to an easy 79-60 win over Don Bosco, who had game high 24 points from Horace Odhiambo.

Dennis Chute poured in with 27 points to guide Lomboritz to a 78-55 victory over Nairobi Pentecostal Church. The losers had 17 points from the impressive Marvin Ocholla.

Elsewhere, Outsidaz upset Langata Crusaders 54-50 in an exciting Nairobi Basketball Association Provincial League match played at Railways Club.

Edwin Ochieng top scored for the victors with 16 points. Fidel Maithya also nailed similar scores for Crusaders. Both teams are fighting for a place in the play offs.

Mennonites’ Penina Nthenya hit 21 points and guided her side to an emphatic 60-49 win over Catholic Dream Team (CDT) who had Kate Olang top scoring with 18 points.
