UGANDA : Silverbacks: Oilers-KIU clash put off
KAMPALA-The anticipated clash between City
Oilers and KIU Titans earlier scheduled for this evening has been
postponed to pave way for another warm up game for the Silverbacks who
are preparing for the Afro-basketball Championship.
The game which is again expected to be played
against a select team of the top division players comes as a welcome
boost for Mandy Juruni.
The Silverbacks coach had requested for another
warm-up game after Monday’s 80-68 win over the select side before the
team departs on Sunday.
“I am sure this team can perform a lot better than
you have seen today. We never got out of our shell and there were a lot
of nerves from the home based players who were eager to prove
themselves. May be we can fix one or two games before we leave,” stated
Juruni.
Stanley Ocitti impressed with 17 points in his
first game in national team colours while Kassim Nangwere and Samuel
Mukooza chipped in with 16 and 13 points respectively.
The Silverbacks have had low key preparations
after the federation cancelled plans to have the team camp in Turkey
because of lack of funds.
