The StarTimes Falcons have named Kenyan national Bernard ‘Ben’ Oluoch
as their new Head Coach, taking the reins from Falcons’ legend Sam Obol
who moves to the office of Club Technical Director.
The former Kenyan point guard played with now defunct Post Bank Kenya
which he led to the 2003 East and Central Basketball Championship.
Olouch has coached women’s side the Sprite Storms and Nairobi
Aviation College in the Kenya Basketball Premier League and Upper Hill
High School in Kenya’s Division I.
Friday Kagoro, the StarTimes Falcons says there will be twists and turns in taking Falcons to the rightfull place.
“As we have said before, the Falcons' journey back to its rightful
place at the top of Ugandan and regional basketball may have several
twists and turns. These changes are in line with Falcons’ relentless
goal to compete for local and international honours.”
“Our beloved fans and sponsors should know that Oluoch is here to
build on the great work done by his predecessor, as we pursue these
targets.”
Oluoch held his first training session with the team at their
training ground – Makerere University Pool Court yesterday, and will be
on the team bench tonight for his first game as Falcons take on Sharing
Youth a side they beat 104-59 in the first round.
As Technical Director, on top of scouting and identifying new talent
development, Obol will help with other administrative duties at the
club.
