Kampala. “A win is a win, particularly if it comes against Warriors,” Tiger Head Power coach, Robert Mugabe, stated after Friday’s 79-64 triumph over Gad Eteu’s side at the Lugogo MTN Arena.
Earlier, Ugandan fans must similarly have felt the same when the men and women’s All-Star Zuku University League Basketball teams triumphed over their Kenyan counterparts.
The men won 73-55 while it was a lot closer in the ladies, who prevailed 72-71. For Power, the win was not one of their most impressive performances but they managed to get over the line. In total, 42 turnovers were recorded with Power committing 17 compared to Warriors’ 25.
Sudi Ulanga scored a team high 21 points while Francis Kasinde impressed with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Joseph Ikong added 14 for Power, who improved to 3-1 this season.
Mark Opio meanwhile, playing less minutes than one would have anticipated, scored 22 of his 28 points in the final two quarters for Warriors, who came within five points of Power at 58-53 in the fourth quarter.
