KENYA : Nairobi Girls Start Shaping Up for Inter Cities Basketball


Nairobi women's start their training today in readiness for the defence of their Afric an Eastern region inter-cities basketball title in Dar, es Salaam later next month.
Team head coach Sylvia Kamau Ocholla revealed the girls will get off their session at the Strathmore University courts. Thereafter they will move to the Nairobi Railways Club before winding up at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium a few days before departure.
Nairobi women have won 12 of the last 16 events and remain favourites to carry the day once again.
Inter Cities president Simon Msoffe yesterday confirmed this year's edition will be the biggest ever with entries expected from across the region. He said teams are expected from ten countries
These are Dar, Arusha, Mwanza, Mbeya and Tanga from Tanzania, Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu (Kenya), Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja and Mukono (Uganda), Bujumbura (Burundi) and Kigali (Rwanda).
Other cities are- Bentieu, Malakal and Juba from (South Sudan). Mogadishu, Garowe and Hargeisha (Somalia), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Cairo (Egypt) and Eritrea City (Eritrea).
