KENYA : Lions set to end losing streak
Lions will play their fifth game of the season this weekend away at Nakuru Club hoping to score their first league win.
It has been a shaky start for the former champions who are kee to pick up the pieces against Nakuru. Simon Mayien, Harrison Kaudia, Dennis Opiyo and Victor Ochieng always rise to the occasion for the team and their form is what Lions will need this weekend.
The task at hand will be herculean considering the blistering form showed Nakuru. At their Menengai High School venue, they have already inflicted the only loss to Ulinzi Warriors. Therefore, Lions may need to tread carefully on this den.
Hillary Kubai, George Kiarie and Nicholas Ayang are three players who have the ability to propel Nakuru to a win.
Kenyatta University Pirates travel to Mombasa for their second game of the season to play Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Strathmore University confront Equity Bank while University of Nairobi Terrorists play Mennonites.
Frank Manyala and Sila Awour will lead the fight for Terror.
In women's Premier League, Eagle Wings might not be at full strength but their game against United States International University- Africa (USIU-A) will be of keen interest to many. The two teams clash on Saturday afternoon and all eyes will be on Eunice Ouma who was the force behind Eagles' sparkle last weekend.
Player-coach Evelyne Kedogo is also expected to play a leading role in the game against USIU-A who have not played for some time. Captain Zipporah Adhiambo, Melissa Akinyi and Cynthia Irankunda are the players to watch for the students who are chasing a second successive title.
Another game that will attract keen attention is between Strathmore University and Sprite Storms on Saturday. Storms comes to the game from a historic century score against Mennonites with Linet Mukiri and Sylvia Omollo the standout players. Mollete Akinyi is expected to lead Strathmore’s offensive.
