BOTSWANA : Troopers Thrash Cadets

Gaborone — Troopers started the 2015 men's basketball league season by thrashing Cadets 100-44 in a one-sided match played at the University of Botswana on Friday (May 1) night.
Troopers were too strong in attack for Cadets and romped to a deserved 23-8 first quarter lead with point guard, Thebe Morwaagole leading the onslaught with eight points, while power forward Emmanuel Ramoshebi contributed five points.
Ramoshebi then plundered a total of 14 points, including two fantastic three-pointers, in the second quarter as the 2014 league champions established a healthy 48-18 half-time lead.
The menacing attacking combination between Duma Setlhare, Boemo Johane and Morwaagole saw Troopers finish the match off as a contest in the third quarter. The trio shared the point scoring duties amongst themselves as coach William Nyangu's men extended their lead to 74-30.
Oteng Phirinyane and Thabiso Tau tried to inspire Cadets into a fight-back, but Troopers scored 26 more points in the last quarter to get their title defence off to a perfect start. Ramoshebi and Morwaagole finished the match as Troopers' leading point-scorers with 25 and 22 points respectively.
In a thrilling ladies match, last season's champions Police V defeated University of Botswana (UB) Relics 62-44. Other weekend results: (men) Bullets 65-32 Warriors, BU Saints 30-102 BDF V, Police 48-49 Dolphins, Spartans 68-44 Flames, UB Relics 146-55 Drillers, (women) BU Ravens 10-62 Avengers, Police 51-54 Dolphins.
