It is that stage of the tournament when all that matters is winning regardless of how it is achieved. So, the 2015 Zuku University Basketball League (ZUBL) quarterfinal gets underway this afternoon at various venues but the frontrunners are already known.
Men's defending champions Ndejje University takes on minnows International University of East Africa (IUEA) at KIU basketball court in a tie that has the hallmarks of a mismatch.
Ndejje are just one of the three unbeaten teams from the conference phase along with Makerere University and Uganda Christian University (UCU). Incidentally, Makerere's play-off against Busoga University at Lugogo arena also seems a walk in the park but UCU could have a tough time overcoming Nkumba University, who lost just a single game in the conference stage.
Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) have been the tournament's surprise package and their excellent display helped them avoid the big boys and earn them a tie against St Lawrence University (Slau). However, this is an evenly-balanced tie and could go either way.
