Under normal circumstances, the Canons – Oilers rescheduled game wouldn’t have been played on Saturday night because of the slippery surface of the YMCA out door court – but the game went ahead anyway.
City Oilers held off UCU Canons’ resurgence in the third quarter and at the start of the final quarter for a 64-56 win behind Kami Kabange’s game high 20 points and 13 rebounds – the first again the university side in the regular season.
The Canons (1-1) who matched Oilers (3-0) in the opening period barely did anything offensively as the defending champions stretched their lead to as big as 14 points.
Daniel Jukko contributed 18 points connecting 6-of-8 from deep and Jimmy Enabu chipped in with 12 points fro City Oilers.
City Oilers will face Falcons in their next game on Friday night while UCU Canons will face fellow university out fit Ndejje on Sunday.
