RWANDA : Patriots thrash UR-CoE to go top in hoops league

Patriots Basketball Club recorded three crucial wins over the weekend including Sunday’s 113-34 over University of Rwanda College of Education top of the national league table standings.
On Sunday, Walter Nkurunziza and Patrick Habiyambere of patriots were the top two top scorers, with 24 and 22 points respectively.
Hopefuls Patriots had also won 85-54 over UR- College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR-CASS) on Saturday and 79-37 over 30-Plus on Friday respectively at Amahoro indoor stadium.

Patriots’ three consecutive wins placed the league newcomers atop of the table thanks to better points per game average as three sides namely Patriots, Espoir and United Generation Basketball (UGB) all have 17 points each. However, Espoir have played one game less.
Cyrille Kalima, the head coach Patriots BC said on Monday that he owes the team’s impressive start to life in the national league to good club management. He said, “We would not be where we are had it not been the good management of the team, and I hope we can continue with this run.”
Elsewhere, reigning champions Espoir won 77-57 over UR- CASS at Amahoro indoor stadium on Friday evening, while former champions APR beat IPRC- South 58-49.
