NIGERIA : D'Tigers Now to Play Burkina Faso Weekend


The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) on Monday said that Burkina Faso Basketball Association has finally
agreed to host the first leg qualifier for the 2015 African Basketball Championship coming up in Tunisia this June.
NBBF President, Tijani Umar disclosed that Fiba Africa had issued a statement compelling the Burkina Faso Basketball Association (BBF) to host the first leg match before the end of this week.
To this end, the BBF has sent words to the NBBF regarding its willingness to host the first leg game this weekend.
The Burkinababes had avoided hosting the encounter for the past two weeks, citing lack of funds to prosecute the match as an excuse.
Consequently, D'Tigers will resume training today after 3 days break and the team will depart for Burkina Faso on thursday morning for the tie.
Meanwhile, the NBBF President has charged the players to go all out against their opponent and ensure a resounding victory for the nation.
Also coach of the Nigeria side, Sanni Ahmed expressed absolute confident in his boys' ability to get a result away.
In the same vein, Co-captain of the team, Stanley Gumut assured that the team was ready for the Burkinababes.
Only 12 players with 6 officials will make the trip to Burkina Faso for the tie that has been fixed for Friday/Saturday of this weekend.
