KENYA : Structure of the 2015 National League to Be Decided Next Month

A team managers meeting set for next month will determined the structure of the 2015 national league. Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) secretary general Vitalis Gode, said all the stakeholders will have a say on whether or not the number of teams in the three tiers should be increased and the conferences issue.
"This is not an easy thing to do without the input of both the KBF and the teams. This is why we will call for a meeting on a date to be announced later to discuss and exhaust the issue," said Gode.
KBF fixtures secretary Joseph Amoko had earlier in the week announced that the lower tier will be expanded to accommodate 20 teams from 16 and will be divided into two conferences--Eastern and Western--under the new format. Already two other teams from Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA)-- Mt. Kenya University (MKU), Thika and 4-Christ earned automatic tickets after finishing winners and runners up in the Inter Provincial play-offs in Kisumu. Amoko disclosed that Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology have been dropped from the league after failing to honour five consecutive matches. NBA chairman Ronnie Owino had written to KBF, asking them to include Emyba and Don Bosco in the expanded Division One.
"The NBA runs a serious league that has over 30 teams and it is only fair that KBF hand us two slots for our champions and the runners up in the expanded league," said Owino.
