KENYA : Warriors Shaft the Blazers in Top Ball At Safaricom Stadium

FORMER national champions Ulinzi Warriors thrashed Blazers 119-57 in a premier league basketball clash at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani.
The soldiers, who became only the second team this year to post a century scores in the league, after Kenya Ports Authority, blasted off to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter. They went out guns blazing in the second to record a huge 37-13 advantage as both teams went to the break with a 56-21 cushion.
After resumption, the losers did well to close in to trail in the third quarter before seeing Ulinzi erupt for a stunning 34-14 edge in the last quarter. Victor Odendo scored 34 and Joseph Ngori 24 for the menacing Ulinzi who are now top with 58 points.
For Blazers, who finished their 30 game fixture without a win, the pain ended with relegation to the lower echelon next year.John Gacheru picked up 13 points and Jay Michoma shot another 10 in a losing effort.
KPA men and women teams had a fruitful tour of Nairobi as they won all their matches. The men dismissed Kenya Airport Authority 58-51 as Samuel Ocholla sunk 19 points and Arial Okal managed 11. Shem Otieno scored 10 for KAA.
In their second game of a busy week that will see them play five games in six days including a trip to Nakuru, the porters beat Nairobi Aviation College (NAC) 74-54. KPA moved to fourth spot on the standings with 49 points.
Strathmore University dismissed University of Nairobi "Terrorists" 81-67. Shilton Ochieng nailed 28 points and Joseph Ongoro added 20 for "Strath". UoN had 16 from Hillary Kubai and 15 from Frankline Manyala 15.
Reigning women champions KPA thrashed Western Delight 97-22 to move closer to leaders United States International University (USIU). The other tie saw Sprite Storms beat Safe Spaces 67-41.
