TANZANIA : RBA League Rescheduled to Next Week
DAR ES SALAAM regional basketball league (RBA) did not kick off on
Friday night as planned due to the poor standard of the National Indoor
Stadium.
The tournament has now been postponed for a week and it will throw next weekend. Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) Vice President, Richard Julies, told the 'Sunday News' on Saturday that they met a few days ago to discuss the league and resolved to postpone it until certain problems, especially the state of the Indoor Stadium, are solved.
"We agreed that we should postpone the league for a week so that we can improve the stadium's court, which will be used for the games. Lights are among things to be restored," he said.
He explained that having in infrastructures that are of international standard should be the priority so that the players can have better environments to showcase their talent.
BD is the main organizer of the RBA league under the sponsorship of Azam Media Group. Last week, BD reiterated its mission that they are committed to revive basketball in the region following a poor progression of the league.
Teams which will participate in this season are JKT, ABC, Mgulani and Kurasini from Temeke; Tanzania Prison, Don Bosco Upanga, popularly known as Savio, Vijana City Bulls and Jogoo from Ilala.
Kinondoni will be presented by Chui, Don Bosco Oysterbay, Pazi and Oilers. Women's teams will also have their league and some of the participants are Don Bosco Lioness, Vijana Queens and JKT.
