KENYA : Two Wins, One Loss for Kenya At Zone V

A narrow 77-82 loss to Rwanda in the second game on Tuesday neutralized Kenyan men basketball team’s good start at the ongoing Fiba Zone V Championships in Kampala, Uganda.
Kenya had beaten Somalia 97-79 on Monday and was hoping to extend their record to 2-0 but ended up at 1-1.
The record is same for Rwanda who lost opening game 63-79 to Egypt on Sunday. It was a tough fight by the Kenyan side who trailed Rwanda by 14 points at the close of third quarter and 35-46 at halftime.
The game against Somalia was a high-scoring affair as Kenya led 47-37 at the breather with 22-21 and 25-16 scores in the first two quarters.

Kenya won the third quarter 28-18 and exerted dominance before Somalia won the consolation fourth 24-22. Desmond Owili top scored with 16 points as William Ochieng and Ancete Wafula combined for 29 points.

The ladies were victorious in the first game beating Egypt 63-57. The first half was even and competitive as both teams tied 21-all at halftime, Egypt winning the first quarter 11-8 and Kenya the second 13-10.
Egypt surged forward in the third quarter with a 21-14 win but Kenya caused the upset in the closing quarter after winning 28-15.
Brigid Nanzala scored 16 points with Hilda Indasi adding 14. The team will take back to the court on Wednesday to play Uganda. It will be an opportunity for Kenya to condemn the host to a second successive loss in front of home fans after going down 61-65 to Egypt in game one.
