Power, City Oilers post easy wins as Zone V nears

Charging Rhinos 61-80 City Oilers
Zone V bound Tiger Head Power and City Oilers eased past Diamonds in the Sun and Charging Rhinos respectively as they tune up for the regional elite club championships due next week in Mombasa.
Power saw off struggling new comers 65-37 pace by Abdulahi Ramadhani’s 14 points and 7 assists. Daniels Owiti added 12 points  and 8 rebounds as Power (8-4) dominated from tip-off to the finals horn.
Isaac Afidra had 10 points and picked 10 rebounds. Micheal Kojo also contributed 10 points for Power and grabbed game high 12 rebounds.
Donald Ssali had 10 points for DITS.
Meanwhile, City Oilers beat Charging Rhinos 80-61. Big man Arou Ramadhan led Oilers with 20 points and 11 boards in 19 minutes. Andrew Opio added 12 while Daniel Najja Juuko and Kami Kabange  contributed 10 points each. Fahmy Sebantindira had team and season high 18 points to lead Rhinos (4-8). Joseph Ondyek and Isaac Kamya chipped in with 9 points each.
In the other game Sharing Youths used a combined offensive attack to blow  Nkumba Marines 64-38. Steven Otoa scored 8 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to led the way for the Youths (5-7) while Tony Okello and Nicholus Ola had 9 points each. Marcus Leo Angolo had game high 19 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort for Marines  (2-11). Shaban Ramadhan added 13 points.
In the women’s division, Brenda Akone and Esther Apolot scored season highs 38 and 26 points respectively as Nkumba Lady Marines spanked school side Crane High 107-25. Barbara Gimbo, Cathy Haruri and Esther Marion also recorde double figure in the route with 14, 11 and 10 points respectively. Kush Nakazzi had 8 for Crane High who are yet to record a win this season and may not.
KIU Rangers recorded a second straight loss. After a strong first half of the season the Rangers have not dropped both their second round games played so far. KIU fell to Magic Stormers 43-39 on Sunday.
