SEYCHELLES : Dawgz keep title charge, Stars title defence in tatters

Mont Fleuri Dawgz kept their hopes of a first ever league title alive as they won their ninth game of the season, while Anse Etoile Stars suffered another defeat, making their title defence all the more difficult.
Mont Fleuri Dawgz was victorious over RC Dynamics, a side that has yet to record a win this season.  A win against a much improved Dawgz side was always going to be a tough task and the boys from Mont Fleuri showed their superiority as early as the first quarter where they scored 15 points compared to 4 for their opponents. The game continued with the same momentum, with the match ending in a big 92-34 score which put the Dawgz at the top of the standings.
Ron Estico was the game’s leading scorer as he managed a contribution of 28 points including three successive three-pointers for his Dawgz side, who will next play Praslin Warriors.

Third placed MBU Rockers suffered a major blow to their own title challenge, after they lost to Anse Boileau based Drifters. The match remained tight throughout, but in the end it was Drifters who ran out victorious with a 75-68 win.
Drifters’ Arnaud Arissol led the scoring for his team with 17 points, with Keven Morel of MBU also contributing the same to his side.
PLS Hawks, whose hope of defending their league crown looks bleak, were in action against last year’s surprise package Beau Vallon Heat and they managed to grab a big win.
The game remained close, up until the final quarter where the Hawks increased their lead by 15 points, to win the contest on an 84-66 score. Captain Jean-Paul Desaubin led the scoring for his team, getting 21 points. Heat’s Jean-Paul Camille scored a game-high 23 point, but it was not enough to prevent defeat.

The ladies’ division two saw defending league champions Anse Etoile Stars up against the defending knockout champions Mont Fleuri. Bernadette Songor led Mont Fleuri to a 67-43 win over the Stars who now find their bid to keep hold of the league title slip of their hands. Mont Fleuri and unbeaten Hotshots are now the two teams challenging for the title.

In the men’s division two, Grand Anse Wolves recorded an easy 67-38 win over Anse Etoile, while Cascade Bullets managed a 58-48 win over Juniors.
