KENYA : KBF League Winners to Reap Heavy Rewards

Kenya Basketball Federation in conjunction with the sponsors, DStv have set aside Sh2.4m in prize money for the winners of the 2014 premier league.
Vitalis Gode, the KBF secretary said they have signed a deal with DStv that will see the top four teams in the men and women's categories rewarded for their efforts in the league.
DStv will start beaming live 108 Premier league matches from July 18. "We have put pen to paper and the package is good for a start. We have met our stakeholders who are happy about this development and have accepted it. We will move on from here," said Gode.
He said the deal will cover only the top league in both categories as KBF look to cater for the winners and runners up in the lower division.
In the top league, men winners will pocket Sh1 million with the runners-up taking home half the amount. The women winners will receive 600,000 while second placed will get Sh300,000.
DStv will also sponsor the first ever All Stars festival to the tune of Sh1 million and buy balls worthSh720,000 for the federation and the teams in the league.
The dates for this event will be released as soon as the fixtures secretary Joseph Amoko makes the second leg programme.
"The coaches to handle the teams will be identified in the coming days," said Gode. Gode said they hope to wrap up the league fixtures in the first week of November before paving way for the play offs, which are scheduled to start in the first week of December
