DAR ES SALAAM basketball fans are bracing for
 another exhilarating event when the city hosts the Union Basketball 
League next month.
The event will come hardly a month after the city successful hosted 
the East and Central Africa Inter-cities basketball tournament at the 
National Indoor Stadium.
The Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) Commissioner for 
development, Manaseh Zablon, told the 'Daily News' that they are 
currently preparing for the Union league which will commence on June 26 
this year.
"After successfully hosting the East and Central Africa Inter-cities 
basketball tournament, now we have the Union league next month," he 
said.
Manase verified that 16 teams from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar 
will take part in the Union league. "There will be eight teams from 
Tanzania Mainland, four for men and other four for ladies.
The same number of teams from Zanzibar will compete in the league," 
he noted. He added that the league involves teams which finished in the 
top positions in the national basketball league.
He named the men's team from Tanzania Mainland as Army Basketball 
Club (ABC), Vijana 'City Bulls', Savio and Chui, while the ladies teams 
are Jeshi Stars, Don Bosco Lioness, Vijana and JKT Stars.
