DAR ES SALAAM basketball fans have been urged
to show up in big numbers in basketball competitions dubbed 'B Ball
Kitaa' which commence on Sunday at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club Spider's
ground.
One of the 'B Ball Kitaa' founders, Karabani Karabani told the
'Sunday News' that no entrance fee will be charged to fans who will turn
up to watch the matches which will be played in every Sunday.
"Anybody is allowed to come and watch games, regardless of colour,
race and even religion. Our slogan says that basketball is more than a
hangout, so there will be good music and we will have fun.
Let's come and enjoy life together," Karabani said. One of the
coordinators of the competition, Murshid Mudracat said yesterday that
all teams that have registered are ready for the tournaments.
He said the tournament will kick off from this afternoon. "Games are
going to start from tomorrow (today) and teams from the Eastern and
Western parts of Dar es Salaam will compete.
They are all in good form and almost all teams believe to be a good position to lift the trophy," he said.
He further said that teams which are participating in the 'B Ball
Kitaa' are the collection of different street teams in Dar es Salaam and
they are divided in to two groups East and West.
He further said it has been a year since 'B Ball Kitaa' started and
they have seen significant changes in awareness of basketball game and
different people have started to show their passion for the game.
"To some extent our aim has been fulfilled because we have witnessed some changes since the event started last year.
A good number of people have been posting comments on Social Media on how we could keep improving this event," he noted.
