East Africa: Dar Ladies in Tatters at EAC Inter-City Tourney

DAR ES SALAAM women team failed to recover from their losing streak in the ongoing East and Central Africa intercity basketball tournament at the National Indoor Stadium after losing for the third time against Kampala.
The 'Dream Team' as popularly known, suffered a 64-52 defeat from the well organised Kampala ladies and were the second best throughout the game.
In the first quarter, Dar es Salaam started with a high tempo and enjoyed a lion share of possession and scored quick baskets. However, they were suddenly brought to a pause by their opponents who were well driven by captain, Flaviana Oketchu.
From then, Kampala never looked back as they continued to stretch their muscles, winning all four quarters of the game. Dar es Salaam team tried to fight back banking on their key player -- Nyaeri Bwana who was the Point Guard in the game but as they were trying to move forward, Kampala hit them on the break and scored points at will.
After the game, Kampala team captain Oketchu said that her team deserved to win the game against Dar es Salaam and now they are looking forward to win against defending champions Nairobi on Saturday.
"We are very happy... you know we came all the way from Kampala to win the tournament and we have the qualities to win the title this year," she said.
She further acknowledged the great start of Dar es Salaam team, saying that they came so hard and it was not easy to beat them.
"It was not easy to emerge winners against resolute Dar es Salaam. They came so hard in the first quarter. However we tried so hard to make sure we win through team work, but it was not easy to win," she said.
For her side, 'Dream Team' captain Sajda Hamedy said that her team lost morale in the game, and they failed to keep possession because they were in a deep slumber.
"We were simply a sleeping giant and completely lost morale. I felt we had a perfect start into the game but we failed to maintain our tempo and allowed our opponents to dictate terms," she said.
