FORMER national champions Ulinzi Warriors
thumped University of Nairobi Terrorists 82-57 in a premier league
basketball show at Nyayo National Satadium gymnasium.
The soldiers took a close 47-38 advantage at the breather before
firing away after the intermission. William Ochieng led a strong Ulinzi
charge with game high 28 points while Dan Nabuyaa shot the campus lads'
18 points.
Strathmore University beat their sister side Blades 50-40 behind
21points from hitman Peter Shilton and 11 from new boy Joseph Ongoro
while the losers had 10 from Vincent Majimbo. The women's matches saw
Sprite Storms nip Strathmore University 42-41 as Sylvia Omolo pepped the
losers with 13 points and Melissa Akinyi provided the students' 16.
Safe Spaces had 13 points from Evelyne Itabu and 10 from Paninah
Nthenya as they defeated Kenya College of Accountancy 46-42 with the
losers having 13 from Celsetine Isambwa. In Mombasa, reigning men's
champions Co-operative Bank of Kenya pipped home team Kenya Ports
Authority 61-54. Allan Ouma and Titus Musembi picked 11ponts a piece
while Sammy Ochola recorded 16 for the portsmen. Co-op ladies pinned
down NYTA Shiamba 48-28 as Grac Wanjiru showed the way with 13 points.
At Menengai High, Nakuru, Akun scored 15 points and James Okerio
managed 12 as the duo guided Nakuru Club to a 65-50 win over Thunder.
The lower division maches saw Mombasa County beat Zetech College 69-62
while in Nairobi Dankand Academy's hot run continued with a huge 56-22
whipping of KCA. Umoja hit Baraka Xtreme 70-5, Jomo Kenyatta University
of Agriculture and Technology lost 43-61 to World Hope.
