UGANDA : Makerere Humiliates IUIU | ZUKU Basketball League

ZUKU TV Basketball league: 
Makerere University 90 –03 IUIU (Women)           
Makerere University lady basketball team walloped her counterparts from Islamic University of Uganda University (IUIU) in a 90 - 03 drubbing at the ongoing ZUKU TV university basketball league.
This was one of the 6 fixtures of the day played at the Ndejje University main campus in Luweero district.
Claire Namunu and Treasure Nababuzizi shared a game high mark of 18 points with Namunu parrying 8 rebounds and 2 assists while the latter had rebounds.
IUIU only managed one basket that came in the 3rd quarter of the game from Shifah Assimwe as she worked tireslessly to paste the score line some colour.
In the other games, UCU overwhelmed Kisubi University 83 – 24. Jonathan Egawu top scored with 16 points and 7 rebounds with Amos Okello Okongo registering 12. Kisubi’c Charles Habonimana had 7 points coming off in the last quarter as they made a desperate catch up quest.
Towering Lino Clement was the start attraction as Cavendish clawed gallantly to a 54 – 35 victory over Uganda Martyr’s University, Nkozi.
The lanky center forward scored 9 points, registering 8 rebounds and 4 assists but it was Nkozi’z Mark Jerry Mayanja who had the last smile as he top scored with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
The passionate crowd was treated to entertainment from self-styled rappers, Martha Oceans and Foreva, much to their delight prior the closing two games.
UCU won their second game of the day with a narrow 37 – 26 victory over Kampala University in a game Jonathan Egawu was fouled out in the last quarter of the game with 5 minutes left on the clock.
Hosts, Ndejje University inspired by James Okello and Geofrey Soro reserved the best for the last moment. Okello had a game high 20 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assist, in his team’s 71 – 37 humiliation of St Lawrence University.
Big man, Sedar Segamba reserved face for St Lawrence with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The next series of games will be played at UCU next weekend on 29th March 2014.
