NIGERIA : DSTV Basketball League - Mark Mentors Trash Gombe Bulls 89:51

Mark Mentors Basketball Club of Abuja at the weekend, humiliated Gombe Bulls of Gombe 89:51 in the week 2 encounter of this season's DSTV Basketball League.
The Week 2 match in the Savannah Conference of the league was played in the Indoor Sports Hall of the Abuja National Stadium.
The hosts started dominating the game as early as the first quarter, racing to a 23-11 lead at the end.
The Bulls were left farther behind at the end of the second quarter with the hosts garnering 19 points to go into half time 42:20 leaders.
The third quarter saw the match having a 32 points margin for the final quarter to end 89-51.
Coach Godwin Raymond of Gombe Bulls said his team started the game badly and only picked up in the final quarter.
"The players just went to sleep today because we have good players.
"They stepped on the court with cold feet and responded too late into the game because our attack picked up in the fourth quarter when the game was lost already.
"The energy they put into the last quarter should have come in the beginning of the game," he said.
Raymond however expressed optimism that the team would be better in their next match in Gombe.
On his part, Mark Mentors' coach, Peter Ahmedu said he was impressed with his players' performance.
He added that the team would put up their best performance in their next match outside Abuja.
"I cannot assure you that we will win but we will give our best and I am sure our best will be good enough to win the game," Ahmedu said.
Mark Mentors ended up as the fourth placed team in the 2012/2013 season while Gombe Bulls just gained promotion from the Division One.
Gombe Bulls lost 62-74 to Kano Pillars in the Week One match while Mark Mentors humiliated Niger Potters 118-47.
