KENYA : Shimba Win Big As Kaya Tiwi Set Stage for Battle
Shimba Hills started their basketball title defence on a winning as the Coast regional secondary schools ball games got underway yesterday. Shimba mauled St. John's Girls from Kaloleni Giryama 141-16 during their opening match played at the Aga Khan Academy basketball court.
Shimba Hills boys were not to be left behind as they emulated their girls to dismiss Mombasa Baptist 57-27. Kwale's Kaya Tiwi girls beat Bura from Taita/Taveta 66-22 at the same venue.
Kaya Tiwi boys also dismissed hosts Aga Khan 56-37. They won the first quarter 10-05, took second quarter 12-10 and went on to wrap the match 16-17 for the third quarter and 18-05 in the final. Kaya Tiwi is coached by their Principal Robert Aran who left Shimba Hills early last year.
