KENYA : KBF Leagues Revert to the Former Format

THE Kenya Basketball Federation have revered to their former league format.KBF secretary general Vitalis Gode said yesterday the decisions was reached during the annual general meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium on Saturday.
"The governors reverted to the old system which will now mean the premier league for men, women and division will have additional teams but will play in the old round robin format." he said.
The men's premier league will now have 16 teams, up from 12, the women will have 14, up from 12 while the lower Division One will also have 16 teams, up from 12. The league throws off this weekend in Kakamega, Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa and Nairobi. Gode said eight teams will now make the play offs from all the three divisions. They will play on a best of three series in the quarters while the semis and finals will be played on a best of five series.
The same meeting approved the league rules with a few amendments. The constitution was also approved and the players were given voice in the governing council.
