Every time you expect Steven Omony to turn in a big performance he will exactly do that. The forward scored game high 29 points picked 7 rebounds handed out four helpers to help Falcons beat City Oilers 86-81 to level the best-of-seven finals series at 2.
Philip Ameny added 14 points including a follow-up hammer down that got the crowd up on a rather quiet night at YMCA. The big man also matched team high 7 boards. Abdullahi Ramadhan contributed 11 points and Herbert Akitah had 10.
Falcons controlled the game from start and stretched their lead up 14 points and City Oilers only came as close as 6 points with four minutes in the last frame and then it was composure for Falcons till the final buzzer.
Arou Ramadhan led City Oilers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The power forward’s season may be over after picking up an injury. Jimmy Enabu matched team high 17 points while Andrew Opio and Kami Kabange contributed 12 points apiece.
Meanwhile UCU Lady Canons moved into a game away from claiming the women’s title following their 36-28 game four win over KCCA Leopards that saw them limit the defending champions to 2 points in the fourth quarter.
Lorraine Akiny the only player to reach double figures scored game high 10 points to lead the way for Lady Canons who have now won three in a row after dropping the opening game of the series. Purity Odhiambo added 9 points and hauled in 21 rebounds. Moreen Amoding contributed 9 points.
Flavia Oketcho led Leopards with 9 points. Claire Lamunu added 8 points and picked 8 rebounds. Rebecca Akullo chipped in with 7 points and Muhayimina Namuwaya picked 11 rebounds.
Game fives will be played on Sunday at YMCA.
