AMERICAN-BORN coach Ryan Turcott has beefed up efforts to help in the development of basketball through talent search and training of coaches.
Turcott has been holding training camps aimed at talent detection at Cercle Sportif de Kigali. Atleast 90 boys and girls aged between 12-17 years have been part of this training.
He is also working with the local basketball federation to pick the next U-18 team on top of  building a partnership with Rwandan Universities that teach sport and physical education. The central focus is to help develop the coaches, who are essential in providing players with the proper skills to be successful.
“This program is not about me. It is about the people, coaches, and children of Rwanda. Sport has provided me with so much in my life and I want to use it to help others as well.”
“Basketball is picking up so fast in Rwanda.  That is good for the country so we should continue to work hard for the young players,” added Turcott who is planning to return back to USA later this month.
