Kenya: Play-Offs Put On Hold Due to Africa Bonanza

THE national play-off finals for women has been shelved until after the 19th Africa women's Club Championships slated for Makanese, Morocco, officials confirmed.
Joseph Amoko, the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) yesterday said since Eagle Wings and United States International University (USIU) will be travelling for the continental championships next week, there is no way they can play the finals.
"Eagle Wings and USIU are currently meeting in the semis of the best of five series. If one progresses, then there is no way they will play until they return to the country," Said Amoko.
The Morocco festival throws off November 22 to December 1 and will involve 12 teams from all over Africa. Kenya, Angola and Nigeria will each have two teams while DR Congo will be represented with one. The three teams to be given wild card are yet to be announced.
Ulinzi "Blades" and Footprints have been promoted to the women's premier league, officials confirmed yesterday. The two qualified for the top tier basketball after they eliminated Parklands Arya girls and Gladiators during the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) semi-finals. Amoko confirmed the promotion of the two and said Mennonites and NYTA Shimba Hills will drop to the NBA league.
