ZAMBIA : YMCA Win, Move Second

THE chase for the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) northern region league title intensified at the weekend with all the three front runners Lunga Bullets, CEC Cavs and YMCA Stringers all in a tight contest at the summit of the table.
However, it was YMCA who took a major step in closing in on leaders Bullets and in the process displacing Cavs into the second position after outclassing Kwacha Crusaders in the Kitwe derby played at CBU courts.
This week 13 result saw YMCA move level on 18 points with Bullets having played two games more, with the Cavs dropping into third on 17 points while the Titans are hovering in the bottom of the table on eight points from eight games.
Comets 101 Crusaders 55 CBU Comets produced a superb display to hand the Crusaders a 101-55 thrashing and maintained the fourth position on the log with 11 points. The Crusaders remained stuck in fifth position on nine points.
Haulpaks 39 Magnets 48 In the B league, Mufulira Magnets extended their lead on top of the table to 17 points after claiming maximum points with a 48-39 victory of Nchanga Haulpaks while Konkola Trotters recorded a narrow 48-46 victory over Fairview Falcons to remain a point shy of Magnets in second position.
CBU Robins moved into second position on eight points after beating leaders CEC Queens 55-39 in the only Feminine league game played on Saturday, with the Queens' lead reduced to a point.
