UGANDA : Warriors, Falcons have chance to find final kick

Champions Warriors are looking to finish as high as possible in the Airtel National Basketball League and if they their final two games of the regular season, third place is almost guaranteed.
Falcons, too, can forge further ahead though it’s highly unlikely. Mathematically, the record league champions can rise to fifth from seventh though it’s heavily dependent on KIU Titans and City Oilers losing their remaining three games.Their 10-9 record means that three victories from here on can only push Falcons to 13-9. KIU and Oilers have an identical 13-6 with the former’s season double over the latter giving them the edge in fifth. Further up the table, DMark Power’s recent inactivity has made Warriors’ 15-5 record good enough to hold second place behind UCU Canons (16-3), for now.
Though third at 16-2, Power still call the shorts in regard to finishing as the first seed heading into the play-offs. No wonder Falcons are not losing faith just yet. “I think there is still a major turbulence in that table,” Falcons’ coach Gad Eteu said ahead of today’s face-off with against Warriors at the Lugogo MTN Arena in a repeat of last year’s final. It wouldn’t be catastrophic to lose to a team that will definitely make the playoffs but neither side would want to cede confidence to the opposition ahead of the playoffs later this month.
