RWANDA : Espoir, KBC through to B-ball play-offs finals
Espoir will face Kigali Basketball club (KBC) in the best of five basketball playoffs finals after both beat their semi-finals opponents in the best of three series on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Title defenders Espoir, who are unbeaten for two consecutive seasons, beat archrivals APR 59-51 in Games One on Friday and 77-45 in Game Two on Saturday to storm into finals scheduled for this coming weekend at Amahoro indoor stadium.
Jean Bahufite’s champions will come up against the 2011 champions KBC, who saw off Rusizi 79-64 in Game One on Friday and 97-71 on Saturday.
“We are on track to accomplish our mission of finishing this season unbeaten as was the case in the previous one, we are looking forward to the finals,” Bahufite told Times Sport on Saturday.
In a separate interview, KBC coach Cyrille Kalima said, “We are in the playoffs finals and anything can happen, so we have to prepare ourselves well so that we are in the best possible position to win back the title.”
