KENYA : Warriors Hunt Down Lions in Premier League Match
ULINZI Warriors beat Lions 54-50 in a tight Premier League show at the Nairobi Railways Club. Both giants got off to a slow start as Lions led 3-2 in the opening quarter. They went on to maintain a low scoring 20-18 advantage at the break.
The soldiers then smartly rallied to take the last two quarters 19-16 and 17-14 respectively. Ben Mufutu scored 13 points and William Ochieng added seven for Ulinzi while Roy Kahure and Dennis Opiyo nailed 13 points a piece for the losers.
In a lower division, favourites Equity Bank clobbered Zetech College 85-54 after taking a huge 40-27 half time advantage. Ian Wachiye nailed 17 points that included four three pointers while George Omenda added 14 for the bankers.
Felix Omondi scored 17 and Brian Simiyu managed another 12 for the losers. In the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) play-off matches at the same venue.
Footprints lost 41-43 to Gladiators who managed to tie the series 1-1. Footprints had won the opener 42-28. Ulinzi Blades cut Parklands Arya 70-32 in another game. Barclays Bank of Kenya were tossed out by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology who won 49-30.
JKUATS had lost Game Two 47-52. Dankind Academy beat Don Bosco 52-43. Mt. Kenya University (MKU) Thika beat Africa Nazarene University (ANU) 67-59 while Baraka Xtreme dismissed Legacy 63-41.
