NIGERIA : D'Tigress Keep Hope Alive, Beat Kenya 79-49
Nigeria's women national basketball team, D'Tigree yesterday revive the hope of advancing to the next stage of the ongoing 2013 Afrobasket for women in Maputo, Mozambique, with a 74-49 win over Kenya in their second game at the competition.
The Nigerian ladies had crashed 46-60 to tournament defending champion Angola in their opening game.
But yesterday, the Coach Scott Nnaji-tutored side thrashed 2007 winners Mali to give hope of progressing to the next round of the tournament.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group-B with defending champion Angola, Mali, Cameroon, Cape Verde and Kenya.
The match, which was played at the Maxaquene Stadium, was the first Group B match of the day.
The teams are jostling for the two Africa tickets to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Championship for Women in Turkey
The Nigerian girls will battle Mali today in their third group match and the square up against meet Cape Verde on Tuesday.
The team's last group match will come up on Wednesday against Cameroon.
