KENYA : Strath Hit Reigning Co-Op in Top League Match

STRATHMORE University thumped reigning champions Co-operative Bank of Kenya 67-34 in a premier league basketball clash at the Upper Hill School courts.
The "Blades" made it clear from the onset, taking a 16-10 first quarter lead. They went into overdrive in the second quarter keeping the bankers scoreless with a 21-00 run.
After the break, Co-op went up 14-10 before a 20-10 Strathmore cushion completed the rout. Samuel Odera shot 20 points for the ruthless "Blades" and Brain Busu hit Co-op's 9.
Thunder defeated Nakuru Club 81-74 in a game that saw Nelson Njau and Aleu Dhol each pick 18 points for the winners with James Okerio scoring the visitors 25.
Former champions Ulinzi Warriors defeated Blazers 75-43 Collins Ouko managed the soldiers 13 points and Abel Nson nailed the losers 16.
Nairobi Aviation College dimmed Mennonites 54-50 in a game that saw two long range shots from each team.
Paul Nyakinda made 10 points for NAC while Collins Ochieng posted the losers 14.
United States International University (USIU) pipped University of Nairobi 63-61 behind 20 points from Alex Ramazani. Enock Ogecha managed 22 for "Terrorists".
Co-op Bank women upset last year's runners up USIU 57-50 as Eleanor Musundi led the victors with 15 points.
Strathmore University went past Safe Spaces 60-47. Manuela Biel shot 14 but the losers Peninah Nthenya led all scorers with 22.
At the Makande Welfare hall in Mombasa, league leaders Lions mauled Kenya Ports Authority 82-72 with Tobias Onyango collecting 22 points.
KPA women recovered to nip champions Eagle Wings 35-33 in a low scoring encounter. Yvonne Akinyi led the porters with 12 points while Samba Mjomba posted the losers 9.
NYTA Shimba Hills had 20 points from Taudensia Katumbe as they sunk Kenyatta University "Oryx" 65-22. Betty Kananu made the students 12.
World Hope lost 50-66 to Upper Hill as Joseph Ongoro nailed 10 points. Kenya Airports Authority crushed Parklands Baptists 84-45 as Emmanuel Wafula hit 14 points.
Umoja dimmed Trailblazers 47-41 as Eric Matoro and Kevin Sunguti each hit 13. Kenya College of Accountancy University lost 36-43 to Little Prince who had 13 from Victor Okoth.
