UGANDA : KIU recover to beat Ndejje as UCU complete double on Falcons

After a poor offensive and defensive first half, KIU Titans exploded for 34 third quarter points on course to a 67-62 win over university rivals Ndejje Angels on Friday night at YMCA.
Guard, Julius Lutwama scored all his 16 points in the third frame drowning all his three long range attempts as Titans overwhelmed Angels.
“Man – we were not playing in the first half. We couldn’t defend or score and we had to change that” KIU’s coach Nimrod Kaboha said.
Edwin Katerega and Chris Omanye scored 11 points each for Titans (10-5) but combined for 10 points in the scorching third quarter. Despite a 7-for-21 shooting from the field, Francis Kasekende had game high 17 points to go with 8 boards. Center, Bol Akol had 7 points and picked 12 rebounds
Ndejje zoned up on Titans in the first quarter but switched to man-to-man in the next ten minutes and were torn into shreds.
Guard, Jeasle Mony scored 12 points to lead Angels (9-5), Geoffrey Soro added 11 points while center, Brian Sentongo returned with a 10 points and 12 rebounds double-double. Francis Tumusiime contributed 10 points.
KIU committed 27 turnovers but made up by out rebounding Ndejje 52-42.
Meanwhile, UCU Canons used a big second half to complete a regular season double on Falcons. Desmond Owili scored 18 points, picked 8 rebounds and swatted 2 shots as Canons (14-2) came from a 12 points first half deficit to pin a 68-75 loss to Falcons.
Three other canons scored in double figures. Sudi Ulanga had 15 points, Boniface Okello 14 points and Martin Okwako scored 11. Big man Ivan Lumanyika grabbed game high 14 rebounds to go with 8 points.
Philip Ameny had game high 21 points and 10 boards in a losing effort. Steven Tumwesigye and Abdullahi Ramadhan contributed 12 points each for Falcons (7-7).
