By Charles MutebiTHE KIU Titans are almost as good as any team in the men’s National Basketball League.
Problem is, in competitive sports there is a huge gap between almost and the real thing.
Even then, one victory could turn things around for Nimrod Kaboha’s Titans and that victory could come today at Lugogo against City Oil, one of the big guns of the season so far.
KIU have not been outplayed by any opponent this season yet they have lost three of their eight matches and all their victories have come against teams you would expect them to beat.
That they lost to the UCU Canons, Riham Warriors and D’Mark Power and that all were very close games points to KIU’s ability and potential.
Yet it also begs the question; when are KIU going to finally take down a big team?
Is it going to be City Oil, the newly promoted moneybags who have won six of their eight games and are threatening to rede¬sign the landscape of local hoops?
If so, KIU will have to do a better job of handling their leads, something they painfully failed to do against UCU and Power.
City Oil will certainly be ready to punish any lapses, given their depth of quality.
Meanwhile, UCU (eight victories, no losses) host university rivals Nkumba Marines in Mukono in a game that will basically act as preparation for the contest of the two unbeaten sides against Power on Friday.
