The Eagles got their first win of the season ten days ago when they saw off fellow strugglers, Proline Heaters. Frank Karoro scored 26 points as the short handed Eagles ended a nine-game losing streak with an impressive 74-63 win.
“It has been a psychological problem but these guys can win games” Eagles coach, Richard Nduga said after the game.
Eagles (1-9) responded to Heaters’ opening 8-0 run to go for the victory. “These guys had started the usual careless way. They needed some hard talk, did that and they were responsive”
The Eagles will be back on the floor this evening as they take on Vegetarians at YMCA. “They now know what it feels to win. I expect them to continue in the next game (Vegetaraian)” Nduga said
Vegetarians reached the 60 points mark for the first in the loss to Charging Rhinos. Vegetarian (0-10) were close in most of the game only to come short late in the game. Vegetarian are averaging 46.2 points per game while letting in 66.3.
Vegetarians’ guard, Vennie Jurua thinks it is focus that needs to change and the game is a must win. “Tomorrow (today) we will come much focused, strong, determined and will play good defense. We have got a lot to lose tomorrow if we don’t win. We shall play our game and play smart as well” he said.
Meanwhile A1 Challenge will face KIU Rangers in the women’s division. Rangers (6-3) edged A1 54-52 to get the first win of the season and have lost only once (to Stormers) since then. Challenge (4-6) has won the last two games – the first time to win successive games this season
