Nigeria: Milo Championship - GSS Minna, St. Jude Win Opening Games

The 2013 edition of the annual Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship got underway yesterday at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with St. Jude Girls Secondary School, Bayelsa State, Yejide Girls Grammar School, Oyo State and Government Secondary School, Minna, Niger Staten wining their opening matches.
The annual basketball fiesta that has produced basketball stars for the country is organised in conjunction with the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
In the first game of the day, St. Jude Girls Secondary School defeated Government Secondary School Gboko, Benue State by 24-16 points, while Yejide Girls Grammar School, out-dunked Ahmadiyya College, Kano, Kano State 34-11.
In the boys' category, International School, Rivers State University of Science and Technology succumbed to Government Secondary School, Minna, Niger State by 34-29 points.
The one week competition continues today, with matches in both the boys and girls categories.
