KENYA : Lions at the helm of Classic League as 2nd leg kicks off

Lions Club lead the table standings of the Kenya Basketball Federation Classic League with 20 points after the completion of the 1st leg. The first leg of the league saw each team play a total of 11 matches apart from 2012 runners up USIU Tigers who have so far played nine matches and forfeited one.
Co-op Bank who are the defending champions come in 2nd with 20 points also, having played 12 matches. They played their first match of the 2nd leg against Ulinzi whom they beat 57-53 on Saturday at the Nyayo Gymnasium. Thunder basketball team is in 3rd place with 20 points after losing two of their matches against Strathmore University who are fourth with 19 points and Lions.
Kenya Ports Authority, Ulinzi and Nakuru club follow respectively with 18, 17 and 15 points. KPA has lost four of its matches the latest being courtesy of Thunder who beat them 64-63 on Sunday in Nairobi. UoN Terrorists and Nairobi Aviation are in 8th and 9th position respectively with both teams sharing 14 points.
The last three teams consists of USIU Tigers, Mennonites and Blazers. Tigers are having a not so good season compared to last year which saw them meet Co-op Bank at the play-offs finals which ended 2-1 in favor of the Bankers. The team will be having an uphill task as they seek to recover in the 2nd leg having lost some of their key players in the 2013 season. They are 10th with 13 points.
Mennonites and Blazers seal the table with both teams sharing 13 points .
