In Summary
When Power beat Falcons 79-75 courtesy Joseph Ikong’s 18 points, they ended the latter’s 14-match winning streak to keep this game as one of the biggest tickets every season.

DMark Power never really dealt with the technical and matchup problems that led to their demise to UCU Canons, a 2-1 loss, in last year’s Airtel National Basketball League
Instead they re-signed Norman Blick, a small forward, and brought in guard Brian Odong from lower division side, Bush Court.
They completely ignored the lack of size, almost completely.
A month into the season, the interim report is quite impressive. Power have won all their six games as they strive to become as successful as Falcons on six titles.

Playing to the script
Save for the 68-65 win over City Oilers on the opening day, the rest went according to script.
The one against Falcons, tonight at the Lugogo MTN Arena, will definitely be a contest unlike the other five.
And Power’s lack of size could be brutally exposed by centre Philip Ameny, just like UCU’s Desmond Owili did during last year’s series.
“You have got to give the new players a chance to grow,” point guard Ben Komakech, a two-time MVP, said in reference to Herbert Akhita, a ‘big man’ signed from Victoria Heaters.

David Kiberu has had to shoulder the burden as Michael Kojo, the other natural inside player, has featured intermittently due to work.
Kenyan Ameny is far from full fitness following his return a fortnight ago.

Weight matters
His started with 13 points as Oilers beat them 75-65 and will definitely get better once his waist thins. Before he, Stephen Omony, Steven Mwesigye and Peter Elungat pound the inside, Falcons will have to keep from breaking out in the open floor with their transition game.
When Power beat Falcons 79-75 courtesy Joseph Ikong’s 18 points, they ended the latter’s 14-match winning streak to keep this game as one of the biggest tickets every season. Last year Power defeated Falcons 79-75 in the first round and then lost 78-66 in the second.
