UGANDA : Pretenders seek to lay down marker

Attention is something UCU Canons and City Oilers are really trying to avoid in the Airtel National Basketball League. They haven’t succeeded. Championship talk is rife.
Many believe they have rosters capable of breaking up the recent stranglehold on the league by Warriors and DMark Power – the only two teams to have won the national title since 2008.
UCU and Oilers clash today at the Lugogo MTN Arena. They can no longer fight the attention. “It’s good if you think we are good for the title,” said UCU coach Nicholas Natuhereza. “But don’t forget that our job is to put that on the floor.”
Since their promotion in 2007, UCU are yet to turn any of their five semifinal visits into a final appearance.

WOMEN: KIU vs. Gladiators (6.30pm)
