KENYA : Ulinzi Warriors extinguish Blazers

Ulinzi Warriors were in a class of their own as they crushed Blazers 89-60 in the KBF Classic league on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
Renowned for their physical approach to the game Ulinzi was the better side of the day as they took all four quarters banking on first breaks and offensive rebounds. In the 1st quarter Blazers put pressure on the Defence Forces side getting 12 points while Eliud Nzioka’s side sunk in 14 points.
In a high scoring 2nd quarter Ulinzi opened the gap with 32 points as Blazers got 23 points to put the half time scores at 46-35 in favor of the Warriors.
In the last two quarters Ulinzi’s endurance was vital as they kept the match on a high tempo with Blazers failing to keep up. They took the 3rd quarter with 22 points against their opponents 11 points then sealed off the win with a 21-14 win in the last quarter.
Blazers’ Abel Nson was the match’s top scorer with an impressive 30 points despite the loss while Collins Ouko and Bernard Mfutu gave Ulinzi 16 points each.
In the only ladies played on Sunday at the Nyayo Gymnsium, Hilda Indasi guided USIU Flames with 29 points as they beat Co-op Bank 62-45. In Mombasa NYTA Shimba Hills saw off Kakamega based Western Delight 52-23 in a match that was played at KPA’s Makande Gymnasium.
