KENYA : Co-op displace Thunder at helm of KBF Premier League

Kenya Basketball Federation 2012 Premier League Champions Co-op Bank displaced Thunder basketball club at the top of the table standings after their win 71-39 win over UoN Terrorists on Saturday at the Kasarani gymnasium. Co-op Bank has 16 points from 7 wins and 2 losses.
Thunder are now placed second with 13 points from 7 matches with their only loss coming courtesy of Lions who beat them 80-73 on Friday in the second match to be ever televised live in Kenya. Lions come in third with 11 points and could have had the chance to move to the 13 points if their match against USIU Tigers would have not been cancelled on Sunday.
Strathmore University and Nakuru Club are placed 4th and 5th respectively with 10 points each. The students have played 6 matches with their last match being against Ulinzi whom they beat 61-50 last Friday. League newcomers Nakuru Club have played 8 matches winning only 2 matches.
Mennonites and Blazers are 6th and 7th respectively. Both teams share 9 points after each winning only two of their seven matches. Blazers pulled a surprise win over Mombasa based Kenya Ports Authority on Saturday when they beat them 65-63 while Mennonites lost to the Porters 70-63 the following day.
KPA shares 8 points with Terrorists and Ulinzi. KPA who are 8th managed to get 3 league points after their weekend performance in Nairobi. Terrorists and Ulinzi follow respectively after the two teams have lost four of their six matches.
The last two teams are 2012’s runners up, USIU who have played four matches the least amongst the twelve teams. They have won three of those with their only loss coming courtesy of Thunder.
Nairobi Aviation is the bottom placed team after they won only one of their six matches. Aviation who gained promotion from Division One have garnered 7 points so far, the same as 11th placed USIU.
