UGANDA : UCU Eye Fifth Straight Win
UGANDA Christian University (UCU) Lady Canons have a fresh opportunity to step up their title pursuit in the Airtel National Basketball League today. UCU, leaders in their category, are at home against the lowly Nabisunsa side having won their first four games.
The Mukono-based UCU are eyeing their fourth championship crown in a space of six years. They lost the title 4-3 to KCCA in the last year's playoffs finals. The teams have already met this year with UCU taking victory. The side triumphed at the East and Central Inter-cities show a month ago. UCU's assistant captain and national team point guard Maureen Amoding believes they have the potential to reclaim the title.
"We have the best players around and been together for a while now. We want to dominate the game again," Amoding who has recovered from Malaria stated. Elsewhere, A-1 Challenge will face Makerere Sparks in the day's second game. In the men's category, six-time champions Falcons will be without inspirational player Philip Amenyi against the Vegeterian side.
Amenyi twisted his left ankle and his expected to be out for some time.
There will be more action with Ndejje University taking on Victoria University Heat¬ers while KIU Titans are up against Nkumba Marines.
