In my pre-game post, I mentioned how unpredictable the tie between Falcons and Oilers would be especially considering the pre game environment. The return of Phillip Ameny and Abdallah ‘Dulla’ Saleh to the Falcons starting line up and the premier of kami Kabange for the Oilers. I vividly remember saying that the team that will dominate the glasses will win!
Oilers right away showed that they were the team on the prowl, jumping and diving at and for everything. Very early, Oilers made it clear that Falcons were going to work hard getting anything on the inside. Kami Kabange(12pts, 9 Rebs,3 Blocks, 2 Assists) and Arou Ramadan Chan( Game high 20 Pts, 7 Rebs, 3 Block and 5 Assists) had several blocks on Falcon Players which you can say made Falcons to back down from the inside game. Their unrelenting aggression earned them a frail 16:14 first quarter win and an 18:11 second quarter victory. Falcons could only afford level terms in the 3rd qtr, 15:15 and Oilers keeping a foot on the gas pedal in the 4th qtr, 26:25. Obviously with that quarterly break down, you can deduct that Oilers dominated the Falcons.
“We definitely are to account for this performance. When two teams, each having the same opportunities are playing, then one decides to give the other second chances, Then they’re giving them another opportunity they don’t deserve. How many second chances did we give away?”
Said coach Tony Oluka of the Falcons in a chat with me.
The oilers reigned on the  defensive and offensive glasses and the stats can surely back it up. Consider a Total 40 Rebs, 14 of them on the offensive glass and 16 of those on their own board. But now, Compare with Falcons Total of 16 Rebs, with 2 from the offensive glass and 14 on their own board. Crazily so, their best rebounder, by the way whose return we so anticiapated, Phillip Ameny(13 Pts) finishing the game with 1 Reb!! If stats are anything to go by, this is where the Falcons lost it. I don’t remember how many times Kami, Arou, Okello and even small men Jimmy and Yusuf kept getting back the ball after missed attempts.
When it came to crunch time, The Falcons tried the pressure defense but Jimmy Enabu (11 pts, 4 Assists) using his pace to elude it all the time.
The Oilers made quite a number of transition bucks of course way more than what the Falcons made in transition. And you’re going to beat a set defense the whole 40 minutes, you’d better be ready to pound – Falcons weren’t a pounding team on night. The most vivid evidence of the Oilers pounding was the ejection of Dullah (4 pts, 1 Assist)for an attempted assault on Ref Peter Kirabo. Dullah certainly felt he’d gotten the bad share of the calls!
“We planned to use our strength which is going to the post. We knew that would open us up against a tough Falcons defense and Our Guards did that pretty well. Defensively, we had over 5 blocks by halftime, something which discouraged them from coming inside. “
Said coach Mandy Juruni of the Oilers.
About the aggressiveness displayed by the Oilers, This is what Coach Mandy had to say.
“We have very athletic and physically strong players; Falcons played a tough defense so they took up the challenge to exploit these traits.”
The Oilers had a better stats spread than the Falcons. Substitute pointguard Ronnie Kalule poured in 13 huge pts and 7 Rebs, Okello James contributed 6 Pts, 4 Assists and 3 rebs. Falcons depended mostly on contributions from lead man Stephen Omony (17 Pts, 4 Assists), Jeff Omondi (15 Pts, 6 Assists), Peter Elungat (9 Pts, 3 Rebs) and Phillip Ameny’s 13 Pts.
So there’s a new Sherriff in Town – Oilers.

Could it be simply me or does it look like a few of these remarks come across like they are written by brain dead visitors?
:-P And, if you are posting at other places, I would like
