Nigeria: GSS Minna, Apostolic Grammar School Akure Win Milo Championship

Government Secondary School, Minna, Niger; and Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School, Akure; have emerged the male and female champions of the 15th annual Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball championships in Akure.
The Central Conference of the competition was tagged: "Champions! It's Dunking Time."
Government Secondary School defeated their counterpart from St. Joseph Secondary School, Gombe, 26-24 to emerge the male champions.
In the female category, Christ Apostolic Church defeated Army Day Secondary School, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi, 15-12 to emerge the champions.
Abdulbasit Yusuf of Government Secondary School won the male MVP of the tournament while Eucharia Akena of Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue, won the female MVP.
Both Yusuf and Akena later said in an interview that they were happy for winning the MVP and thanked their team mates and coaches for the feat.
Speaking earlier, Funsho Osho, the Brand Specialist, Nestle Milo, gave an assurance that the championships would continue to expose and harness the enormous potential in Nigerian youths.
"Milo Basketball has produced several talents at previous championships that have found their way into the national team and major leagues around the world," he said.
Taiwo Kolawole, the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Education, noted that the event was targeted at promoting basketball at the grassroots. (NAN)
