KENYA : Win Second Game at Inter Cities Basketball Tourney

REIGNING East and Central Africa Inter Cities champions Nairobi beat Mukono 73-67 in their second game at the Lugogo indoor stadium yesterday.
It was Eleanor Musindi who opened the game with a free shot giving Nairobi a 6-0 lead. This soon ebbed as Mukono charged back to take a 10-9 first quarter advantage.The second quarter was a tough battle as Hilda Indasi hit a three pointer to pep Nairobi to a 32-26 half time cushion. After the break, Emma Nyakweba hit nine consecutive points in a row that included a sperb three pointer. Again Mukono would not give up as Maureen Amoding and Purity Ouma nicked in vital baskets many coming from the free throw line. Coach Sylvia Ocholla called a time out after which the experienced trio of Nyakwena, Indasi and Angela Luchivya with Musundi and Grace Wanjiku made vital contributions to see the team through. Other results: Kampala 61-Entebbe 50, Mukono 64 Jinja 27, Kampala "B" 49- Kampala "A" 61, Kampala "B" 80-Galkayo 69, Mogadishu 41-Jinja 86. Today, Nairobi play Kampala "A" at 2 pm.
